The Best Beach Bars & Chiringuitos in Barcelona

The chiringuito or xiringuito in Catalan, has evolved with Barcelona and has now become a more sophisticated establishment, some with impressive menus and long cocktail lists. You can relax on a lounge chair on the sand watching the Mediterranean Sea glisten in the warm evening sun, cocktail or beer in hand.

We’ve listed some of our favorite chiringuitos for you to enjoy while in town. These sites are very popular during the summer so we advise you to go there early to make sure you get a place.

With the style to which the Tragaluz Group is accustomed to and the incomparable marine setting. With a menu that has a simple cuisine based on fresh grilled fish, rice dishes and salads, this luxury beach bar, located at the foot of the W Hotel, seems to want to pay homage to the authentic pre-Olympic establishments. Here, one wonders if the old times were better or if things simply had to change. Good music and nice people.

Who said that a pastry family could not make good paellas? At the Escribà beach bar you can eat all kinds of rice dishes and first-class appetizers, among which the Iberian ham stands out. It is advisable to leave some space since the meal must end with some of the cakes and sweets from the clan’s bakeries. The Escribà group has also made their debut nearby, in a sister beach bar named Guingueta de la Barceloneta in collaboration with Carles Abellán.

Xiringuito Vai Moana

The Moais of Easter Island welcome us to the Vai Moana beach bar, which, according to the language of this Polynesian island, means the blue sea. The moai philosophy is present in the decoration of the beach bar and in the wide section of the cocktail bar, with caipirinha, Cosmopolitan, Mai Tai and sangria, because we must not forget that we are talking about beach bars and, although the style may vary, there are classics that should always be present.

Vai Moana is one of the few places that offers a menu for children with macaroni, of course, and mini hamburgers, since Bogatell beach has a more family-oriented public. The menu is renewed by seasons and offers an assortment with cockles, mussels, potatoes and olives, cheese boards, patatas bravas and grilled or baked meat or fish specialties.

Club Atlètic Natació Barceloneta Bar

The Club Atlètic Natació Barceloneta seems nothing more than a club bar. Strategically hidden behind a conspicuous chiringuito, the club bar preserves the very essence of the club: a simple offer for lifelong guests, who do not have their feet on the beach but on the land, and enjoy of a simple beer in the freshness of the sea, in front of a century-old club. The gastronomy’s nothing special but the location, right in front of the sea on the main beach, is what makes it.
